The snapshot at birth
At your birth, the Sun, Moon, and planets each occupy an exact position in the sky. Plotting those positions against the twelve zodiac signs and twelve houses — with the Ascendant as the frame — creates your birth chart. Change any input (time, date, or place) and the chart changes, which is why exact details are emphasised.
What the chart contains
Every chart shows the nine grahas (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu), their signs and houses and degrees, the Ascendant, the Moon's nakshatra, and the yoga patterns they form. From these, a reader derives personality, career themes, relationship patterns, life timing, and spiritual direction.
What a chart is not
A birth chart is not a script. It describes tendencies, capacities, and chapters — not fixed outcomes. Two people with identical charts can, through choice, effort, and environment, live noticeably different lives. Astrology describes the river's course; the rowing remains your own.
What needs to be said about accuracy
Astronomical positions (where planets fall) can be calculated with precision. The interpretive layer — what those positions mean — is a rich, ancient, and entirely human art. Any honest astrology site, including DestinyMap, frames interpretations as study and reflection rather than scientific certainty.
Key Questions
✦Do I need exact birth time?
For the Ascendant and full house layout, yes. For the Sun and Moon signs, mostly not — the Sun moves slowly enough to be dated, and the Moon sign can usually be found within the day. The complete reading, however, wants your exact time.
✦What if my birth time is missing or approximate?
The chart is read with the information available, and this limitation is acknowledged honestly. Some themes (Sun, Moon sign-level material) remain readable; the house-level detail is treated with corresponding caution.
