What Is a Birth Chart?

At your birth, the Sun, Moon, and planets each occupy an exact position in the sky. Plotting those positions against the twelve zodiac signs and twelve houses — with the Ascendant as the frame — creates your birth chart. Change any input (time, date, or place) and the chart changes, which is why exact details are emphasised.

Every chart shows the nine grahas (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu), their signs and houses and degrees, the Ascendant, the Moon's nakshatra, and the yoga patterns they form.
